Connect HP Printer WiFi New CR1000B

We've moved and have a new install of the full Verizon Home Bundle, all new equipment.

I'm trying to connect an HP LaserJet MFP M139-M142 series printer to the:

Verizon CR1000B  Router / WiFi.  So far, in order, I've tried:

0.) The nice Verizon Installer Team installed a:

Model: CR1000B / Device Name: Verizon Router /5 GHz Band: Channel 6 /2.4 GHz Band: Channel 11, and, after resetting Network ID / Passwords, it talks to our Macbooks and Kindles just fine. (My (this) Macbook is 16 feet / 1 wall away from the router. The printer in question is in the same room as my MacBook.)

Hp Smart is running on my MacBook.

1.) Reset HP LaserJet MFP M139-M142 by press-and-hold the red X and blue wireless buttons for 5 seconds. When released the blue wireless button starts blinking.

2.) Immediately go to the router and press the "two rectangles" button on the back. White lights on the back start blinking.

3.) Go to HP Smart and search for my printer. No Joy.

4.) Tried all of the above and then pushed the printer's wireless button once-blue light off, again, blue light on, and  now I get a P2 error code AND a blinking exclamation point. The printer manual says this means:

"P2 An ID Copy job has been started. Turn over the identification card and press the ID Copy button to continue."

Still no joy with HP Smart.

If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong, please let me know.

(The 24 oz. ball peen hammer is looking better by the minute...)

Hi @TQUINN9, from what you have described above you're attempting to do two different setup methods in combination by using HP Smart and WPS.  I would recommend trying the WPS method over the HP Smart app. Once the printer is connected you can later use the app (or local EWS admin GUI) to manage the printer's functions.

HP Smart (uses Bluetooth and location from computer or phone to discover and setup printer):

  1. First check that the printer is in wireless setup mode by pressing and holding the Cancel (X) and Wireless button for 5 seconds. Await for the printer to reboot and the wireless light to begin blinking.
  2. Launch the app and Add printer. If the application is still unable to find the printer, this may indicate the necessary permissions are not granted. Ultimately, resort to the WPS method below.

or

Wi-Fi Protected Setup:

  1. First check that the printer is in wireless setup mode by pressing and holding the Cancel (X) and Wireless button for 5 seconds. Await for the printer to reboot and the wireless light to begin blinking.
  2. Press and hold the WPS button for more than 2 seconds on the gateway. The front panel led light should begin slowly blinking blue for 2 minutes.
  3. Press and hold the Wireless button for 5 seconds on the printer and allow up to 2 mins for it to connect to the gateway. The gateway light should rapidly blink blue and become solid white once it is successfully completed the connection with the printer and the Wireless light would be solid.

Hi back, Fdbk!

First, YAY! And thank you, it worked.

Second, you should be writing the Verizon help answers. In many minutes of searching Verizon, I could not find that set of control inputs, in that sequence.
