Coverage in the area of Sunset Pointe in Salisbury, NC (zip codes 28146 and 28147) are experiencing extremely low signal and spotty cellular coverage. It has degraded over time and the coverage on High Rock Lake is almost nonexistent. This is concerning in the case of an emergency.
Many are considering changing carriers.

I just checked, and since it's right next to a lake, I think it's the lake which is causing problems. Bodies of water can interfere with cellular service. A good part of the area shows as 4G LTE only, and 5G UW isn't available. If you are able to manually select the band on your phone, switch it to LTE.
Just an FYI, all US versions of cell phones which are able to use 4G are required to be able to call 911 so long as the phone can be powered on. You do not need to have a service plan or even a SIM/eSIM on the phone - it can still call 911 and the call will go through using whatever available signal the phone can find. This is why all US carriers have a 911 use fee in the taxes and fees section of the bill. Note that if you have an international version of a phone, this feature doesn't work. Or if the phone is very old, it may be using 3G to call 911, and 3G has been retired by all US carriers. Obviously, if you come across a very old phone from the 2G days, those won't be able to call 911 either because 2G is no longer used in the US.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
