Just curious - anyone know how the Motorola Droid recognizes it's in the multimedia station, so it puts the phone into the correct view? There doesn't seem to be any additional thing you plug into the device - it's just your standard USB cable and something that the Droid sits into.
I tried plugging the Droid into a standard USB cable and holding it at the same angle as the multimedia station, but nothing. Is this magic or something?

Magnets in the docking station. There is an app called DeskHome that will simulate the dock.

I have been using DockRunner (free) to put the Droid into multi-media mode. Works perfectly.
I decided that I did not need the multi-media docking station.
