Directv splitters

I have directv now and just received my self install setup with five boxes. I already have Fios internet and phone, so all I need to do is swap out the input to my house. I'll disconnect the dish and connect the coax coming from the verizon wall box to the house. Now I have a splitter just inside the wall that feeds that room and then to the rest off to the rest of the house which has a main splitter that feeds the other rooms

I'm being told that the splitters that Directv put in wont work for my Fios. I thought the were a standard splitter and nothing specially made for directv.

  Is this true?

Directv spliters do not have to be bi-directional, and generally the highest frequency used in the Coax with Directv is about 900Mhz. The only signal that goes up to the dish is DC to power the low noise block converter on the dish.

FiOS requires two way communication on the coax, and MOCA routes the Ethernet traffic  on the Coax at frequencies well above those used by either Cable TV or Directv.  As a result for FiOS you need bi-directional splitters that are rated to at least 1Ghz.

So while it is possible that the Directv splitters would work, it generally isn't worth the trouble to find out. Just swap them out splitters that are known to work for FiOS service.
