Apparently some time today my box has decided to do its own thing, I am simple man I and I dislike change especially when I am not notified, anyways so now I have to turn my sound up to 25 or 30 just to hear voices. Before it was only at 10 and that was plenty loud. Also now the guide has shrunk in size to where it was full screen before. Has anyone else come across this annoyance? I have played with it for hours and still no avail also some of my real HD channels and programs shot in HD are shrunken as well. Maybe someone out there has found a solution to this as I do not have the patience to deal with "verizon customer service" tonight lol.

It was version 1.7.1 of the software, released over the past few weeks. Release notes will be out soon.
Your guide was returned to its native 4:3 format because there were complaints it was distorted when it was stretched to 16:9. A true HD 16:9 guide is coming with the 1.8 release.
The sound has been a problem, there are some other threads on this forum about it.
What do you mean your HD programs are smaller? The release only effects the size of the guide, not the feed itself.

I have the same issue! we used to watch the tv at a volume of 18 - now we watch it at 30, last night at 40!!! is this resolved, or going to be resolved or do I need to take the financial hit and move to better service elsewhere? i don't have much patience for this kind of nonsense....
