Unresponsive DVR - QIP 72161

I have FIOS TV with a Motorola QIP 72161 Set Top Box DVR. The other night the power went out and since then the DVR hasn't been working but internet is working fine.
When the DVR is turned on it displays a channel of 0 and won't respond to the remote or box buttons for changing channel or going to menu etc. The only thing it responds to are the power button (turns off display and outputs) and the info button (goes to the Parental control PIN setup window). The TV works (gets Netflix streaming OK) and detects when the DVR is powered on (detects the DVR on the HDMI1 connection when the DVR is turned on).
I've tried power-cycling the DVR (remove power cable for 30+ seconds) and also tried power cycling + reseting the router to no avail. I've also tried using the verizon support tool (in home agent) but it doesn't seem to be working (doesn't load anything when going to the DVR support tab).
Any suggestions for troubleshooting this further?

I had similar simptoms and after 45minuts with FIOS customer support it turned out that hard drive died due to power loss event. They shipped me replacement set top box.
