Verizon/Comcast contractors won't bury cable after installation

I live in a community of 155 townhouses and condos. Three years ago, many of us switched from Comcast to Verizon Fios, because it offered better service and better rates. After the initial installation, we have been dissatisfied with the miles of cable left unburied above ground. Verizon blames Comcast and vice versa. Numerous telephone calls to customer service and hours of waiting at the local offices have yielded no results. Pedestals and boxes remain in disrepair and the cable drops have never been buried. By contract, both cable companies are responsible for having their contractors bury the dropped cable; however, this isn't taking place. Not only is this unsightly, it's dangerous for residents to walk behind their units. How can this ongoing issue be resolved in a timely manner?

Contact your local cable franchise office and file a complaint. Both companies are most likely awarded a franchise to supply TV service.

Contact your local town/city/county council. They authorize the cable companies to provide service in their jurisdiction. A call from them to Comcast/Verizon will get things done MUCH QUICKER.
