mobile number is already registered to another Set-top box (ERROR ON NEW BOX)

Hello,

So my old dvr box did work for 6 months, then suddently the program guide and functionality changed to a non-dvr view. So after a few weeks of trouble shooting I recieved a new box. Unfortunately when I try to register the new box for the remote dvr access  I get this error message "The mobile number is already registered to another Set-top box." This occurs from the settop box and from the settings on the verizon website. When I called tech support, they told me to call verizon wireless, I told them i had At&t, so they told me to call AT&T.

 I still have my old box which is ready to be returned. Should I hold on to the old box for any reason?
